Adobe Muse: The worst piece of shit ever

You know that MUSE video they got going on at adobe muse? Oh man if you can bare it, watch until maybe 80% through (because thats where i stopped).. and then saunter onto the SHOWCASE and checkout their proudest moments of point and click web design.

Use Muse if you want to:

  • USE IMAGES FOR YOUR WHOLE WEB PAGE
  • DONT SUPPORT DIFFERENT LANGUAGES
  • LOOK LIKE SHIT (this is a valid point… just look at them)
  • BE SPONSORED BY ADOBE
  • TIRED OF IWEB
  • WANT TO KILL YOURSELF
I used caps deliberately… Seriously, it’s iWeb without interacting with the OS. Thanks Adobe for keeping developers employed!

Bored.

I get so bored of hacker/silicon valley/webby news these days originating from the US. I know it’s a bit of a shitfight of hiring and skills but it’s an overload of shitty twitter and +1/Facebook updates. It’s like the politics of cloudynerdups.

Just make some shit will you.

IDE Crisis

Every once in a while I go through an IDE crisis.. Textmate makes me unproductive but it is still the most powerful but I just can’t get productive in it all the time.

So I’ve been on Netbeans 7.0 which is ALL RIGHT… once I made my own snippets for some simple var_dump()ing etc it was ok. There isn’t much CakePHP support, there is not a lot of general support but it does help me in my coding.

The CPU fan goes nuts which annoys me… on my laptop it heats up and it’s already pretty steamy in Beijing.

On the iMac at work though, it’s got real estate to spare and it’s a joy to use… well, at least I’m productive in it.

Netbeans 7.0

A book I’m reading: Nginx HTTP Server

So I’m all up in Nginx at the moment. It’s smooth as silk on pages and a low overhead. I wish it came in a  package friendly version like MAMP on a mac but heyyyy, the setup isn’t that difficult anyway.

However I have not delved into scalability and one of my customers will need it shortly so luckily I have the chance to review this little gem Nginx HTTP Server. Oddly enough the author is in China as well… as far as I’ve worked out.

It’s a good read so far, I’m trying to fit it in between website launches, designs british council, red travel and finding a new apartment. Needless to say I’m burning the candle at both ends….

Stay tuned…
